Inovação Fora de Portas is a project that aims to open the city up to its own innovation, raising awareness of the role of engineering, architecture, and technology in the transformation of Porto.

Inovação Fora de Portas (Innovation Stepping Out) is an initiative of the Municipality of Porto, developed in partnership with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Porto Innovation Hub, and Porto Digital.

The project acts as a programme to bring the city closer to its innovation ecosystem and opens doors to the behind-the-scenes processes that make Porto a benchmark for modernity, sustainability and urban development. In an accessible and participatory way, Inovação Fora de Portas invites citizens to discover how innovation manifests itself in the spaces we inhabit and to understand the impact of the people, ideas and technologies that build the city of tomorrow.   

It is an opportunity to see, hear and understand how Porto is reinventing itself.   

The Fora de Portas visits (Stepping Out visits) open up new ways to discover Porto through engineering and urban innovation. These are moments of sharing that bring experts and citizens together, promoting dialogue and direct knowledge about projects that transform public spaces.

Each cycle of visits highlights the impact of innovation on mobility, sustainability, and urban management, consolidating Porto as a city in constant evolution and a reference in sustainable development.
